Clay ridge tiles
Tudor makes five handmade clay ridge tiles (hog’s back, half round, third round, baby and mono) and vented versions of the hog’s back and half round. Each clay ridge tile is about 310 mm (12 in) long and made from the same clay and sand as our roof tiles.

Vented clay ridge tiles
The vented hog’s back and half round ridges each have a slot that lets air out along the ridge line, with a free vent area of 2,580 mm² (4 in²) per ridge. They give natural ventilation only and can’t take soil pipes or extractor fans: for those, use our Under-Tile or In-Tile vents.
Bat access ridges
We can cut an 18 mm bat access into the side of a ridge tile, so bats can reach the ridge space inside the loft. About bat access.
Fittings are fired separately from tiles, so a slight difference in shade between ridges and tiles is normal for clay. The Roof Tile Association explains why in its guide to achieving the best visual effect.

Questions about ridge tiles
How long is a clay ridge tile?
About 310 mm (12 in). Like every handmade fitting, each one varies slightly.
Which ridge shape should I choose?
On a repair, match the shape already on the roof. For a new roof, ask for samples, or ask us for an address near you where you can see each shape in place.
Can ridge tiles be vented?
Yes. The hog’s back and half round ridges come in vented versions with 2,580 mm² of free area each, for natural ventilation only.
Do ridge tiles match the roof tiles?
They are made from the same clay and sands. Fittings are fired separately, so a slight shade difference is normal, and roofers blend it in on site.
